MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Several women hit the basketball court to prove their love for the game on Sunday.
“She Got Game” is a women’s basketball league with a focus to expose and encourage female basketball players 18 and older in the areas of basketball beauty and being a boss.
Former WNBA players and Elite college players are also apart of the league. Players competed in a 3-point contest and skills challenge.
The organizers say basketball is close to their heart.
"I have two daughters that play. I have a daughter who plays in Romania, and a daughter who plays at White Station Middle School. My husband's a former NBA player, so we're big on the women's game. But here in Memphis, it's not as big as we want it to want it to be. So, we're looking to do something that gives them a little more push, and puts some more spotlight on the girls,” said Deneia Whitted, apart of the She Got Game basketball league.
There were also guest speakers and middle school exhibition games.
“She Got Game” will also offer a deserving high school player in Shelby County a 6th woman scholarship.
